Danielle Dayton is a Calgary-based singer-songwriter blending indie pop, alternative folk and indie rock with vivid storytelling, soulful vocals and an instinctive sense of rhythm. With roots in dance and movement, her music is shaped by rhythmic arrangements, soaring melodies and a distinctive dark vocal timbre, moving between intimate singer-songwriter moments and expansive full-band performances.
Over more than a decade, Dayton has built an independent music career that includes two Canadian tours, festival appearances, radio airplay across Canada and internationally, and an Edmonton Music Award nomination. Her songwriting and performances have also attracted recognition from outlets including Alan Cross, DOMINIONATED, Canadian Beats, and Great Dark Wonder.
Alongside her artist career, Dayton expanded into professional songwriting, sync, toplining and production music, with work signed to international companies including Warner Chappell Production Music, Madden Flow Entertainment, and twoOHsix Music. During this period, she received Alberta Music grant funding and began a creative partnership with Michigan-based producer Noah Nigg.
Working almost entirely remotely for three years, Dayton and Nigg developed a new collection of songs, transforming intimate songwriting ideas into richly layered arrangements that move between indie pop, folk and alternative rock.
In 2026, after stepping away from full-time teaching to make more room for her creative work, Dayton brought her artist project back to the forefront with Save a Little Love, her debut full-length album. Exploring where we place our love and attention—and what happens when we learn to save some of it for ourselves—the record reflects a period of personal and artistic transformation.
Dayton introduced the project onstage in September 2026 with a full-band release concert at Calgary's Festival Hall, bringing the music to life through dynamic arrangements, expressive vocals and audience participation. The concert also marked the first time Dayton and Nigg brought their years-long remote collaboration together in person.
With new music continuing into 2027, Dayton is building on more than a decade of songwriting and performance experience, offering both dynamic full-band shows and intimate solo acoustic performances that invite audiences into the stories behind her songs.
